Flight info

Slight flight delay right off the bat today. 1 1/2 hour longer wait in the San Jose, CR airport. That puts us in Dallas at about 3:30 or 4:00pm instead of 1:55 pm. The Dallas to MSP flight is on time still though so we will hopefully still get to MSP at 8:25 pm. We will call when we get to Dallas.

Formal dining

Tonight was our final supper in Costa Rica of this trip. The kids each individually Told the whole group their one big discovery student adventures moment. It was very powerful stuff. I got choked up. It has truly been my honor to Even be associated with such an outstanding group of representatives from Northstar middle school. Whatever you’re doing at home to raise such Great kids please keep it up. The young men and women all looked fantastic in the dress-up outfits tonight.
Here is just one picture from the supper tonight. Your kids will have several more on their own cameras.

World Cup??

Here is the impromptu soccer game that broke out after we gave new soccer jerseys to a lower class area elementary school. Notice what is used in lieu of a soccer ball.

CR elementary school visit

Mr. Emerson from Altoona set up a elementary school stop with our tour guide Fabian. This was totally spontaneous and it was one of the best things on the whole trip. We got to interact with first through fifth graders. Mr. Emerson from Altoona had a bunch of Chippewa Valley soccer shirts to give to the kids. The looks on their faces when they received their new soccer shirts from the United States students was absolutely priceless.

Playing on a Pacific beach

Garrett helped bury his new friend, Kenneth, from Portland, OR.

Kaity, Lauren, and Mya looked for hermit crabs

We turned over one of the sea kayaks and had a great picnic style lunch right on a Pacific beach.

Mya and others made a hermit crab amusement park.

The girls set up a 3 lane hermit crab race track.

The girls gave their hermit crabs a bath.

Milking the cows

A few kids milking the vacas.

Farmer Aaron

Hey Kristen and Chris,
I think you might need to buy a cow. AJ was a pro at milking today at the agriculture school. Mr C

Craft making at the school

We didn’t have as many students to interact with at the middle/ high school so we will stop tomorrow at an elementary school to show and give our stuff. Here are a couple of pictures from that process today though: Mr C

Leaf cuter ants

These highly organized communities of leaf cutter ants are everywhere in Costa Rica. I know you can find much better footage online but kind of cool to know that these are one of the lines that we actually saw. Mr C
